André Danican Philidor L’Aisné (c1652-1730): Recueil De Plusieurs Airs

André Danican Philidor, o velho [em francês: l’aîné] foi um membro da família de músicos franceses Philidor, conhecido também como André Danican Philidor le père depois de 1709. Ele era um bibliotecário musical, instrumentista e compositor. É conhecido principalmente como organizador e o principal copista do que hoje é conhecido como partituras manuscritas da Coleção Philidor de barroco francês. Philidor l’aîné foi nomeado para um cargo anteriormente ocupado por seu tio, Michel Danican, nos fuzileiros navais de Cromornes et Trompettes em 1659. Ele tocou oboé nos mosqueteiros reais de 1667 a 1677. Aparece em libretos dos balés e óperas de Lully como instrumentista de sopros e percussão. Ele tocava 33 instrumentos (!!!), incluindo oboés, flautas, flautas doces, fagotes e todo tipo de percussão. Compôs peças ocasionais ao longo de sua carreira e começou a escrever para o palco (óperas-ballets) após a morte de Lully, em 1687.
