Aqui, toda a coleção.

Um excelente disco. É incrível — os húngaros conseguem tocar de tal forma que até o Poema Sinfônico Kossuth ganha vida e torna-se muito bom. Apesar de trazer obras abaixo da média de Bartók, o disco está muito acima da média dos compositores, digamos, normais. O poema sinfônico foi escrito uma homenagem ao político húngaro Lajos Kossuth, herói da Revolução Húngara de 1848 e narra musicalmente sua tentativa fracassada de conquistar a independência da Hungria da Áustria em 1848-49. O próprio Bartók escreveu comentários detalhados sobre a partitura, delineando um programa. Embora a obra seja escrita em um único movimento, fala sério, ela é formada por dez movimentos ou seções interrelacionadas. A peça começa com Bartók esboçando um retrato de seu herói e termina com uma marcha fúnebre, que também foi arranjada para piano pelo compositor. Os poemas sinfônicos de Liszt e Strauss influenciam fortemente o trabalho, pois Bartók toma emprestadas ideias deles para desenvolver harmonias, progressões cromáticas e instrumentação. Ao longo da obra, além de melodias bem húngaras — trata-se obviamente de uma composição altamente nacionalista –, há uma sátira zombeteira ao hino nacional austríaco imperial, Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser, que é usada na forma de um leitmotiv recorrente.

As outras obras são também menores e pouco comuns em concertos. Mas Two Portraits (Dois Retratos) e Two Images (Duas Imagens) também são excelentes quando tocadas por húngaros da gema.
