“This sense of dynamic joy was communicated beautifully in the performance by the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Bernstein. Mr Bernstein´s treatment of the score made it seem as fresh as the day it was created.

Mesmo se tivesse vivido em uma ilha nos últimos 60 anos e nem imaginasse quem poderia ser Leonard Bernstein, após ouvir esta gravação, tenho certeza de que você imediatamente iria identificar o imenso maestro que ele foi. Naquela agora longínqua década de 60 ele reinava soberano, ofuscando o brilho de Karajan, Kubelik, Fricsay, entre outros grandes maestros do século XX e que também estavam em seu apogeu naquele momento.
