Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (1644-1704): The Mystery Sonatas

Este CD é uma reedição. Foi mega premiado, inclusive recebendo o Gramophone Award de 1991 de melhor instrumental barroco. As Mystery Sonatas são uma coleção de 15 curtas e belíssimas sonatas para violino e contínuo, com uma passacaglia final para violino solo. Cada uma tem um título relacionado à prática de devoção do Rosário Cristão e possivelmente à Festa dos Anjos da Guarda. Presume-se que as Mystery Sonatas foram concluídas por volta de 1676, mas eram desconhecidas até sua publicação em 1905. A música de Biber nunca foi inteiramente esquecida devido à alta habilidade técnica necessária para desempenhar muitas de suas obras; isso é especialmente verdadeiro em seus trabalhos para violino. Uma vez redescobertas, as Mystery se tornaram a composição mais conhecida de Biber. O trabalho é valorizado por seu estilo virtuosístico, afinações de scordatura e sua estrutura programática.

Pretendo postar outras versões da Mystery nos próximos dias, mas creio que essa seja a melhor delas.
